A New Day, A New Year, A New Century &
A New Adventure
During the holiday season
Buttons met a lady from Hollywood. The lady remembered the Little
Girl Buttons knew so long ago. Now the problem was, to figure out a way
to get to Hollywood. Little Bear and Buttons decided the best way
to get there was to get in the movies. They had heard of people coming
to town to look for new talent. The try outs were to be down by the river.
(The river bank has now become a important place in Buttons travels.) This
trip could, at last, take Buttons to the Little
Girl she knew so long ago.
The next morning Buttons and
LIttle Bear slipped out of
the Antique store and headed
for the river bank.
There, in the light mist, sat
a handsome boy.
Are you the people looking for
new actors,
said Buttons?
No, we are here to watch the
try outs, said his sister. See the
children singing? They are trying
out for a musical and the older
children are trying out for the
movie Gone With the Wind.
The children sang very well indeed.
I am sure they will be chosen.
Little Bear ran ahead. The ladies
offered him
a cup of tea and a blueberry
muffin.
I would like to sign up please.
Will I be next, said Little.
Bear. After me, said a beautiful
girl sitting beside him.
Lets hurry now. This is taking
way to long.
The lady in charge was very impatient.
Buttons, your next.
Me? Now? I am not
ready!
Then I will say my part, said
another young lady.
She talked and talked and talked.
Buttons was getting bored.
Buttons slipped off to a quite
corner.
There he was met by a small clown.
Why are you here all by yourself,
whispered Buttons to
the clown. They did not like
me. You see I only speak
French and they did not understand
a thing I said. Well,
I understand you. Don't worry.
If I get a part I will let
you be on stage with me. They
were both tried and they
rested quietly in the shade together.
Finally Buttons was told to get
in costume.
It took three hours to get in
the most awkward
costume. When she finally got
dressed, she spent
2 more hours in make up.
The results were stunning.
Buttons looked so beautiful.
Who would ever know
it was really a cat, in disguise.
Then came the time to read the
list of winners.
I can't believe Buttons did not
get the part. This was very nice of
Little Bear, as he also did not
get a part. Little Bear knew how much
Buttons wanted to go to Hollywood.
Come on Buttons. lets go home.
Let them keep their parts.
"AND FRANKLY MY DEAR, I DON'T
---- - ---- (care)."
Buttons, this is a lesson for
both of us. We were not meant
to be in the movies. I was to
short and you tail kept moving.
It totally gave you away. The
girl that was sitting at the table,
when we first came upon the try
outs, was really Mrs. Raccoon.
You can't tell who the people
really are under all the make
up. By the way, Mrs. Raccoon
did not get a part either. Lets be
just who we are! Now we will
have fun when we go to the
movies wondering who is really
behind all the costumes. But
alas, now it will be even harder
to find the little girl. Come on
Buttons, lets go to the movies.
We don't have to go to Hollywood.
Hollywood comes to us every Saturday
night. (That's when most
folks go to the movies where
Buttons lives.) Just remember
Buttons, things aren't always
what they seem to be, and people
may not be who you think they
are..
And off
they went.
Love,
Buttons

Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Somewhere, over the Rainbow, way up high,
There's a land that I heard of, once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the Rainbow, skies are blue,
and
The dreams that you dare to dream really do
come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up
Where the clouds are far behind me. Where troubles
Melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney
tops,
That's where you'll find me.
Somewhere, over the rainbow, bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow, Why then
- oh, why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow
Why then oh why can't I?
